FM Lavrov praises Acting President Rodriguez’s foreign policy. On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Brazilian President Lula da Silva held a phone call in which they discussed the international situation triggered by U.S. aggression against Venezuela that took place on June 3. Venezuelans Massively Support Acting President Delcy Rodriguez: Hinterlaces “The leaders exchanged views on current international affairs, with special attention to the situation in Venezuela,” the Kremlin said in a statement. Putin and Lula agreed on the need to ensure “the state sovereignty and national interests of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” it added. They also agreed to continue coordinating efforts, within the framework of the United Nations and through BRICS, to reduce tensions in Latin America and other regions of the world. Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised the foreign policy of Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, who is defending her country’s sovereignty following the illegal U.S. operation that involved the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. “We are observing with great interest, concern and sympathy how the Venezuelan authorities are defending their rights and independence, while at the same time demonstrating flexibility and expressing a willingness to engage in dialogue with the United States,” Lavrov said.
